On December 15th, the well known American brand Abercrombie & Fitch made it’s Southeast Asian debut and opened it’s flagship store here in Singapore! Just in time for Christmas shopping season!
Traditionally, to “attract attention” to their upcoming store, Abercrombie handpicks the hottest models from all their stores all over the world to stand in front of the new store, donning only Abercrombie pants for ogling women (and probably some jealous men) to take photos with them. Needless to say, there was a massive crowd outside the Knightsbridge store here in Singapore. Everyone was excited to take photos with extremely gorgeous, shirtless men. This happened during the week of the opening.
Abercrombie & Fitch has that all American kind of traditional, yet fun style. I’d say its rather casual and cool men and women’s trendy American style.
The store’s layout was very much similiar to the one in New York which I visited. It was dark, speakers were booming, the whiff of the famous Abercrombie scent “Fierce” permeated through the air. It was extremely crowded too! Well, what can you expect, it’s a new store! I suppose having Asian staff makes the huge difference. Its hard for Singaporeans to convey that All-American culture, especially when greeting customers “hey, how’s it going?”. However, I’m pretty sure the Singaporeans welcome this “alien” brand! I’m definatley excited to have an Abercrombie & Fitch in Singapore!!
